Lubricant: water, silicone, or flavored?
Share
Lubricant is one of the most underestimated accessories for pleasure. And yet, choosing the right lubricant can completely transform an experience. Water-based, silicone-based, flavored… each type has its advantages and limitations. We'll explain everything.
Silicone-based lubricant
Much more durable than water-based, it remains slippery for a long time without reapplication. Perfect for use in the shower or bath. Be careful: it is incompatible with silicone toys, as it can degrade the material. Use only with glass, steel, or ABS toys.
Our favorite: Überlube (from $23.18) — exceptionally pure, fragrance-free, designed to transmit sensations while reducing friction. Also available in a travel size to always have it handy.
Water-based lubricant
This is the most versatile and recommended: compatible with all toys and all condoms, easy to rinse off, and stain-free. Our selections:
- Sutil Luxe (from $19) — organic water-based lubricant, so natural you barely notice it
- Sutil Rich (from $20) — ginseng-enriched formula, silky texture similar to silicone without being silicone
- Aloe Vera Lubricant by Dame ($28.50) — doctor-approved, pH-balanced, ideal for daily use
Flavored lubricant
Formulated for oral caresses, it adds a gourmet touch to your intimate moments. All are water-based and sugar-free. Not recommended for internal use. Our favorite flavors:
- JO Gelato Crème Brûlée — vanilla and caramel ($10.74)
- JO Gelato Mint Chocolate — refreshing and gourmet ($10.74)
- JO Gelato Salted Caramel — sweet caramel ($10.74)
- JO H2O Strawberry ($10.74)
- JO H2O Raspberry (from $23.80)
- JO H2O Peach ($10.74)
What to avoid
Avoid oil-based lubricants (coconut oil, petroleum jelly) with latex condoms: they degrade latex. Also, be wary of products containing glycerol or parabens if you are sensitive to irritation.
